The Perfect Viral Video (Comes from an Art...
Brooklynite Gallery in Bedstuy, NYC, is one of my two favorite galleries. They have a really fantasic space (with a large backyard that’s perfect for summer opening parties), but more importantly, they have high calibre (street) artists to fill it: Aiko, Dain, Bast, Anthony Lister, and more. However, next month, they’re doing something a little unusual. They’re holding their...

Even the gov’t admits we’re not out of the woods yet, but general sentiment seems to be improving which is certainly one piece of this puzzle that has to fall into place.

Does Facebook's New API Give It a Trump Card...
Facebook has finally done it: opened up a portion of their content/activity-stream to outside developers through a new API. But what does it really mean to the Internet eco-system? And why is everyone putting this into context with Twitter? Unmistakably, this move coupled with fB’s recent homepage/fan-page redesign, was a challenge to Twitter. But will it work? I’m not sold. Because...

First Mr. Softee. Now a full central park. Looks like summer in the city has finally arrived (ignoring the fact that it’s going to be in the 60s later this week).

Warner Bros. Launches a HD DVD for Blu-ray Movie... →
Not bad customer service. But is this just a way to eek some additional money from their customers (it costs the customer $4.95/exchange but what does it cost WB for each disc?) or is WB actually standing behind their customers? Either way, if you bought HD DVD and want to switch to Blueray, this is the way to do it.

Beware of the Cloud
If you know me, you know that I’m a huge fan of “the cloud.” All of my email is hosted at google (I use Google Apps), as well as my calendar and address book. I even recently started using Dropbox as a hosted fileserver solution for my business. But then a friend (CWD) forwarded this TechCrunch article to me this morning — Online Backup Company Carbonite Loses Customers’...

OfficialSite.com - What a Name
So I was looking for the location of a restaurant that I’m meeting a friend at in the AM: Naples 45. I’ve never been and was told it’s in Grand Central, but the last time somone pulled that, I spent ten minutes looking for the restaurant. This time around, I threw Naples 45 into Google and the result I got read, “Naples 45, New York - OfficialSite.com.” I glanced at...

Diggers Care!
For one of my projects, we’ve decided to join the Digg bandwagon in order to try and drum up some traffic for specific content. (Yes - I’m using Digg for personal and promotional reasons; shoot me. But if you’re going to shoot me, why not shoot everyone else, because that’s primarily what it is. But I digress…) After doing a ton of research, it seemed that the best...

Boxee and the Social Sharing Conundrum
Stuart: Few things for you. First. Wanted to continue to evangelize Plex (vs Boxee). They just released Netflix last night. So now I see no reason for Boxee considering that Plex is so much easier to use. That is, unless you love the social sharing crap... But I'm not sure that I care whether or not a friend knows that I watched a film or TV show.
CWD: I do like the social aspect to a good degree. Except when I'm watching movies that make me look like a girly-man, and Boxee shares that with my friends...

Old Media Isn't Getting Any Newer
Unfortunately for them, old media aint getting any newer…fast. Check this latest and greatest from the AP (an organization who might be even more clueless than the RIAA): A.P. Spring Cleaning Your Drupal Site (or Other CMS) →
“Many people celebrate spring by doing an intensive cleaning of their house, getting rid of stuff that isn’t needed any more, putting away the winter clothes/jackets and cleaning in those places that you don’t get to on a daily basis.  It occurred to me that most CMS admins should take on a practice like this at least every year when I started looking at broken links.” Read...

Easiest Way to Claim Your Name on the Net
Tumblr. No. I’m not a company spokesman, but I did see the magic happen overnight. You see… I’ve owned stuartschultz.com for years, and have had some misc content up there (my resume, links to current projects, etcetera). Nonetheless, the other Stuart Schultz’s of the world always took precedence in any google search for “Stuart Schultz.” There’s the...

Other Media Server iPhone Remotes
As a quick follow up to my old post, I found that Boxee distributes a free iPhone app that serves as a remote and for Plex (and other non-Boxee but XBMC-based media servers), there an $2.99 iPhone app called XMBC remote. Boxee’s remote takes no configuration and the other very little. If you have a home media server and an iPhone, these apps are a must buy.

Zemote: The iPhone Remote App for Your Home Media... →
Those of you who know me know that I’m a big fan of homebrew media servers (ie. adding software to your computer that enables it to store movies and play them on demand, pipe your music throughout your house/apt, and more). However, the one issue I’ve always had with the concept is that I don’t want to have to drag a mouse and keyboard to my coffee table in order to select a...

Bull Market?
I just don’t get it. Sure. The market is climbing. Some economic data is positive. Moves are being taken to get capital flowing again. But are those reasons enough? I think unemployment overshadows all of this. February brought us 600k job losses. March: 700k. This isn’t just in the Finance sector. It’s all over. And with more and more people losing jobs, there are less and less...
