Just today I received the most ridiculous pitch letter/message for SEO services (in other words, spam) in my inbox. It was submitted by a contact form. It reads:
We would like to get your website on first page of Google.
All of our processes use the most ethical “white hat” Search Engine Optimization techniques that will not get your website banned or penalized. Please reply and I would be happy to send you a proposal.
In order for us to respond to your request for information, please include your company’s website address (mandatory) and or phone number.
It’s bad enough that it’s not English… But the worse part is that they need my website address in order to process a request for more information. I understand the concept of cold calling but at least pretend that you’re customizing your pitch. These guys (or women) flat out admit that they have no clue who they’re reaching out to. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that they aren’t even willing to take a look at the part of an email address after the @ symbol (or ask for more info if someone replies from a gmail account).
Of course this is just spam, but at least it’s also a lesson to all of those cold callers out there.
